What is Ounces to Ashes?

Ounces to Ashes is a custom jewelry a keepsake business specializing in turning your most precious memories—whether it’s breastmilk, ashes, hair, clothing, or any meaningful memento—into handcrafted, art. We help you preserve the memories that matter most, creating timeless pieces you can cherish forever.

What materials do you use?

We use high-quality, durable materials to create your jewelry, including stainless steel, sterling silver, 10k, 14, and 18k gold, resin, and other carefully selected components. Each piece is designed to last a lifetime, ensuring your memories remain beautiful for years to come.

Individual materials are stated in the product lists as my supplier has stated them to me.

How does the process work?

The process is simple and personalized to your needs. Once you place your order, I’ll provide you with clear instructions on how to send your keepsakes (breastmilk, ashes, hair, etc.) via email. I’ll then work closely with you to design a piece that reflects your unique story. Once your custom design is finalized, I’ll handcraft your jewelry with love and care, ensuring it’s a perfect tribute to your cherished memories.

How long will it take to receive my custom jewelry?

The timeline for creating your custom piece can vary, typically takes 3-6 weeks, depending on the complexity of the design, when I receive your inclusions and the materials used. Please keep in mind that each setting is custom ordered after you place your order. Once I receive the setting, I begin the stone creation process as long as I have your inclusions.

Can I use multiple keepsakes for my piece?

Yes! You can absolutely incorporate multiple keepsakes into your jewelry. Whether it’s a combination of breastmilk, ashes, hair, or fabric, we’ll work with you to design something truly special that reflects all the meaningful elements you want to include.

How do I care for my custom jewelry?

To keep your custom jewelry looking its best, we recommend storing it in a safe, dry place when not wearing it. Clean it gently with a soft cloth, and avoid exposing it to harsh chemicals or abrasive surfaces. Each piece is crafted with care, but like any fine jewelry, proper care ensures it remains beautiful for years to come.

Can I make changes to my design after placing my order?

Once your design is finalized, I begin the process of creating your piece. If you need any adjustments, please contact me as soon as possible. While major changes can be difficult once production begins, I'll do my best to accommodate any requests before the final design is set in stone.

What happens if I’m not satisfied with my piece?

Customer satisfaction is my top priority. If for any reason you’re not happy with your finished piece, please reach out to me within 7 days of receiving your order. I'll work with you to resolve the issue, whether through a revision or another solution. I want you to love your keepsake for years to come.

Do you offer gift cards?

Yes! I offer gift cards, perfect for giving the gift of a personalized keepsake.

Can I gift a custom piece of jewelry?

Absolutely! Our jewelry makes a meaningful and thoughtful gift for special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, memorials, or life milestones. You can order a custom piece for someone else and even include a personalized message to make it even more special.

I have an existing setting I would like to add a custom stone to, can you do that?

While I’d love to say yes, the answer really depends on the specifics of your existing setting. If you’d like to add a custom stone to a piece you already have, please get in touch with me directly so we can discuss your request in detail.

If it’s something I can accommodate, I will certainly do my best to help. However, please note that if we move forward with this, I cannot be held responsible for any damage to the setting, or if the item is lost or stolen in the mail.

Do you offer faceted stone designs for your keepsake jewelry?

Yes, I do! I absolutely love the elegance and sparkle that faceted stones bring to keepsake jewelry, and I take great pride in creating these beautiful designs. Simply request faceted in the notes section of your order.

I typically don’t apply a top coat to faceted stones, as it can interfere with the facets and dull their brilliance. As a result, they tend to have a more matte finish compared to my smooth cabochon stones.

Can I wear my keepsake everyday?

Yes, you can! However, if you’re planning on wearing your keepsake jewelry regularly or want to pass it down through generations, I highly recommend opting for solid gold—either 14K or 18K. Solid gold is much more durable and less likely to tarnish compared to silver or plated options.

Plated jewelry can wear down over time, especially depending on your body chemistry and how often you wear it. As for the keepsake stones, they are softer in hardness compared to diamonds so scratching can occur.

Warranties, Returns & Cancellations

Do you offer warranties on your jewelry?

Yes, we do!

If your keepsake stone falls out of its setting and you still have the stone, we’ll happily repair it for free within 60 days of receiving your piece. After 60 days, we’re unable to offer a warranty, but we can help with repairs for a fee. You’ll be responsible for shipping the setting and stone back to us. If you’ve misplaced the stone, and it’s still within the 60-day window, we can remake the stone for you, though you may need to send in additional keepsakes (milk, hair, ashes, etc.).

Please note: If your piece has prongs, they may loosen over time if the jewelry is handled roughly. Local jewelers can easily fix this for a small fee.

Discoloration:
It’s important to note that all resin items—like the keepsake stones I create—may experience slight discoloration over time, especially with exposure to sunlight, heat, chemicals, and water. I use high-quality resin, but no resin is entirely impervious to these factors. Additionally, if your inclusion is breastmilk, each sample of breastmilk is unique—some may have a natural yellowish tone, while others may appear slightly blue, due to the preservation process. If you’d like to ensure a brighter, whiter stone, you can opt for the "whitener" option, and I’ll add a small amount of white pigment to the mix.

Do. you accept returns or exchanges?

Due to the extreme customization of keepsake jewelry, we do not offer any sort of returns or exchanges under any circumstances. Each piece is as unique as the inclusions sent in and by purchasing you are acknowledging you understand and agree with our Refunds & Exchange policies. 

When ordering a piece that requires sizing (rings) , please be 100% sure of your size BEFORE placing an order as I cannot issue a refund/exchange if you ordered the wrong size.  If you do not know your ring size, I highly recommend visiting your local jewelry store to be checked or ordering a simple ring sizer such as this one from Amazon

I do not keep stock inventory so each piece is custom ordered, which is why refunds and exchanges will not be accepted. This applies to all orders including, the wrong piece being ordered, buyers remorse, etc. 

However, I do want you to enjoy the process of DNA and Keepsake Jewelry, should any issues arise, please contact me immediately and we will work to get your issue resolved. 

Once you receive your custom one-of-a-kind piece, please inspect it thoroughly and contact me immediately if the item is defective, damaged, or it is the wrong item so we can correct the issue immediately. Each issue will be looked at and evaluated individually and will be up to Ounces to Ashes to determine if the defect is within normal range or if a replacement is warranted. With that being said, because keepsake jewelry is as unique as the inclusions used, some are more difficult to work with than others. There will be variations and differences among each piece of jewelry (even those made with the same inclusion piece) and by purchasing with Ounces to Ashes, you are agreeing you understand your piece will not be 100% without any flaws. These flaws can include but not limited to, tiny bubbles, stones not sitting flush on the settings, color variations, and other minor imperfections. 

I missed your promo, can you apply it to my order?

I cannot and will not under any circumstances remake any promotional items or free gifts. I cannot offer any sale or deal to any previously purchased item, or offer any sale or deal to any item placed after the expired sale or deal.

I need a refund, I have changed my mind?

You have up to 48 hours after placing your order to cancel, however a 25% restocking fee will apply to all cancellations. After 48 hours the settings and supplies have already been custom ordered and cannot be cancelled.

I will not and cannot offer a full refund after your order has been placed.
